Jessica Mauboy

Is an Australian R&B and pop singer, songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Darwin, Northern Territory, Mauboy rose to fame in 2006 on the fourth season of Australian Idol; she became the runner-up and subsequently signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.

Blakbeats

Formed out of the seedlings program at QPAC, Blakbeats brings together a collection of First Nations musicians from musically diverse backgrounds in a style that has something for everyone. QPAC is excited to partner with QYAC in providing opportunities for the Seedlings program, and creating pathways for upcoming First Nations artists.

Provokal is an up-and-coming Indigenous Australian rap artist, producer, and singer-songwriter.


Adam James

Adam James is a singer-songwriter with an enthusiasm for making music that transcends genres. Previously positioned in the mainstream Australian Country Music scene, Adam is bringing something new to the stage as he emerges into Americana and Alt Country genres. In 2012, he was the recipient of the 2012 APCMA International Indigenous Artist of the Year award, and the 2015 winner of the TSA best Alt-Country-Blues artist.

Is an Australian country singer, known as the Black Elvis and the Koori King of Country. Roger uses his voice to inspire, encouraging people to feel good, further encouraging them to strive to be the best they can be. Engaged in mentoring young Aboriginal musicians and performers he is a well loved and inspiring role model.

Black Square Quartet

Elemental Music: inspired by nature and the elements, by Black Square Quartet

Featured in these concerts will be a new work for string quartet written by composer Dr Philip Eames, which celebrates the unique culture of the Quandamooka people. This new work has been inspired by three short stories from the Old Dreamtime, by Oodgeroo Noonuccal, from her book Stradbroke Dreamtime. These vivid stories will be brought to life through music and dance, with the help of Waangenga Blanco (Principal Dancer with Bangarra Dance Theatre) and the students of Dunwich State School. The concerts will also include works by Haydn and Arvo Part, as well as works by Australian composers Ross Edwards and Peter Sculthorpe.


Georgia Corowa

Georgia is a singer/songwriter sharing her gift of soulful melodies. Her style resembles a gospel crossed with folk flavour that allows her voice to tell stories from the past and present. Coming off a world tour with Aussie artist Xavier Rudd and her new role as ‘Mum’, Georgia is full power and a pure song bird of creation.

Thelma Plum

Is an Indigenous Australian singer/songwriter from Delungra, New South Wales. Now based in Melbourne, she is a graduate of the Music Industry College in Brisbane. She released her debut EP, Rosie, in March 2013 and followed it up with a second, Monster, in 2014.

Geia is a renowned singer/songwriter, guitarist, didgeridoo player and influential figure in the development of contemporary Indigenous music. He writes music of bravery and beauty, telling of Aboriginal life in Australia, of the quest for justice and belonging, of history, family and love.
